Overview
Tend ("we", "our", or "the app") is a personal productivity assistant that helps you organize your Gmail inbox, browser tabs, and bookmarks. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
What Data We Access
We access the following data only when you explicitly use features that require it:
- Gmail (via Google OAuth): Email metadata (sender, subject, labels) for inbox organization. We read email headers to categorize and label emails.
- Browser Tabs: Tab titles and URLs when you use tab management features (via Chrome extension).
- Bookmarks: Bookmark titles, URLs, and folders when you use bookmark organization (via Chrome extension).
What We Store
- OAuth Tokens: We store your Google OAuth refresh token to maintain your login session and enable background features. Our database provider (Neon) encrypts all data at rest.
- Job History: When you run background tasks (like Inbox Zero), we store job metadata (status, timing, summary statistics) to show you progress and history.
- User Profile: Basic profile info from Google (name, email, profile picture) for your account.
What We Do NOT Store
- We do NOT store the content of your emails
- We do NOT store your browsing history
- We do NOT store your passwords
- We do NOT sell any of your data
- We do NOT share your data with third parties (except our infrastructure providers listed below)
AI Processing
Tend uses Google's Gemini AI to help categorize emails and provide assistance. When you use AI features:
- Email metadata (sender, subject) may be sent to the AI for categorization
- The AI does not have access to email body content for categorization
- AI processing happens in real-time and is not stored by us
- Google's Gemini API has its own Terms of Service
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate Tend:
- Vercel: Hosting and serverless functions (USA)
- Neon: PostgreSQL database for user accounts and job history (USA)
- Inngest: Background job orchestration (USA)
- Google APIs: Gmail access and AI processing
Each service has its own privacy policy. Your data may be processed in the United States.
Chrome Extension
The Tend Chrome extension connects your browser to the Tend web app for tab and bookmark management.
- tabs permission: List and close browser tabs
- bookmarks permission: Organize bookmarks
- storage permission: Extension preferences only
The extension only sends data to Tend when you explicitly request an action.

Your Rights
You have the right to:
